I became a California patriot on November 8, 2016.

In the surreal weeks following the presidential election, I felt that I was seeing – really seeing – my home State for the first time.  I realized that we are the Drumpf counterfactual.  I realized that we are proof that Drumpf’s isolationist, discriminatory, pro-polluter pontifications are wrong.

We are the world’s sixth largest economy – and its 16th (Los Angeles Basin) and its 21st (Bay Area) – because we attract the world’s best and brightest.

Our coasts and forests are breathtaking because we protect them.

We are the nation’s most-populous state because our diversity and our policies make California a wonderful place to live.

I’m not saying California’s perfect.  Far from it.  But our flaws are what Drumpf calls virtues.  And we know it.  And we strive to do better.

Because I believe in California and its values, I have committed to implement various strategies to increase the State’s clout in national and world affairs.  One of those strategies is to further enrich California by spending my dollars on California products and companies, and to encourage others to do the same.

This blog is an implementation of my Invest In California strategy.  I have collected California-based options for the things that I purchase and use.  Here, I share my collection with you.

Because every act is a political act.  If we want California to continue to innovate, succeed, and progress, then we must invest in Californian businesses.
